2003 Maine Road holds its final match when City play Southampton against May 11. An emotional farewell. The stadium has been home to City for 80 years. City moved to a sleek new stadium, the City of Manchester Stadium with a capacity of 48,000 spectators.

2007 Sven Goran Eriksson replaces Stuart Pearce as manager and on 15 December City set a club record for their participation in the English top flight by recording nine straight wins at home at the start of the competition.

2008 Abu Dhabi United Group becomes the new owner of Manchester City. Former Wales star, Barcelona, ??Bayern Munich and Manchester United Mark Hughes was appointed as the new City manager.
