As a tribute, the name of this club uses English pronunciation, not Italian pronunciation, namely Milano. Milan won the first title in the Italian League in 1901 and won it again in 1906 and 1907.
In 1908, because of disagreements about the recruitment of foreign players, the club split into two, AC Milan and Internazionale. The split made Milan fast the title until the 1950-51 season. In 1963, Milan won the European level title for the first time after defeating Benfica in the final. This success was repeated in 1969, followed by the Intercontinental Cup title that year.
After Gianni Rivera retired, Milan's achievements plummeted. In 1980, Milan was even involved in the Totonero scandal (gambling scandal and determining the outcome of the match) and as a penalty relegated to Serie B. Milan quickly went back to Series A, but dropped back to Series B because it ranked third from the bottom.
AC Milan History - Scandal
In 1986, businessman Silvio Berlusconi took over the club and immediately invested a lot of money. Milan then appoint Arrigo Sacchi as coach and recruit the Dutch trio, Ruud Gullit, Marco van Basten, and Frank Rijkaard. That was the beginning of the golden period in the history of Milan.
With the famous trio, Milan won five Champions League trophies, five European Super Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, and one Club World Cup. Together with the Dutch trio, Milan was nicknamed The Dream Team.
In 2006, Milan was again involved in a scandal in Serie A with four other clubs, namely in the final match fixing. As a result, Milan experienced 15 points deduction and failed to qualify for the Champions League. However, the cut was then reduced to just seven points and Milan qualified for the Champions League. Remarkably, Milan later won the Champions League that season.
Other AC Milan Historical Notes
Assocoazione Calcio Milan or AC Milan is one of the big football clubs in Italy. The club that originated from Milan is one of the most successful clubs in Italy. The success of the club based in the San Siro Stadium is recorded in the history of AC Milan. Noted, AC Milan has won Serie A 18 times and the Italian Cup 5 times.
In the history of AC Milan, the club was founded in 1899. The club was founded by two people of English nationality, namely Herbert Kilpin and Alfred Edwards. Initially, the club was named the Milan Cricket and Football Club on December 16, 1899. At that time, Edwards took the position of president of Milan's first club, while Kiplin served as Milan's first captain.
In the 1901 season, AC Milan made history by winning the first title as champion of Italian football. However, in 1908, some Milan players from Italy and Switzerland did not like the dominance of English players and other Italian players in the core squad. Therefore, players who do not like dominance form a rival club called Internazionale Milan.
In the 1950s, AC Milan became the club to be feared because at that time Milan had a trio of GreNoLi, namely Gunnar Gren, Gunnar Nordahl, and Nils Liedholm. The trio of Milan players are from Sweden.
In the 1961/1962 season, AC Milan regained the Italian football league championship. At that time, AC Milan was trained by Nereo Rocco. In the history of Milan, Noreo Rocco is an innovative coach who discovered the tactics of catenaccio (layered defense). During the coaching of Noreo Rocco, Milan won the first champion trophy.
In the 1978/1979 season, the club nicknamed the Rossoneri won its tenth scudetto title. However, in the 1979/1980 season, Milan were forced to go down to Serie B with Lazio because they were proven to have been involved in a gambling scandal.

The era of the AC Milan Dream Team
The number of problems that befall AC Milan, making spurs and success of AC Milan fade. When Milan was in a state of decline, AC Milan was bought by an Italian businessman named Silvio Berlusconi. Berlusconi's entry as a Milan owner, made a ray of light to make AC Milan rise again to rule the Italian soccer competition.
After Berlusconi entered, the Italian businessman brought coach Arrigo Sacchi and three Dutch players, namely Marco van Basten, Frank Rijkaard, and Ruud Gullit. In addition to these three Dutch players, Berlusconi also bought other players, like
Roberto Donadoni, Carlo Ancelotti, and Giovanni Galli. The move to recruit a classy player by Berlusconi was made to restore the glory of AC Milan.
Since being trained by Arrigo Sacchi, AC Milan won the Serie A title in the 1987/1988 season. Furthermore, in the 1988/1989 season, Milan won their third Champions Cup title. Furthermore, Milan also repeated the glory the following season.
When Arrigo Sacchi left AC Milan to coach the Italian Team, AC Milan's coach position was occupied by Fabio Capello. During the Fabio Capello coaching, AC Milan won its golden age which later earned the nickname The Dream Team.
The nickname of The Dream Team was obtained by Milan because Milan was not defeated throughout the soccer competition. The Milan Dream Team is inhabited by great players, namely Franco Baresi (Defender), Paolo Maldini (Defender), Costacurta (Defender). In the midfield position, there are names of Marcel Desaily, Donadoni, and Ancelotti. Meanwhile, in the attacker's position, there are Dejan Savicevic, Zvonimir Boban, and Daniele Massaro.
After Fabio left AC Milan in 1996, the position of coach was given to Oscar Tabarez. However, Tabarez coaching did not produce maximum results. This made AC Milan recall Arrigo Sacchi to replace Oscar Tabarez.
However, after Arrigo Sacchi returned to replace Tabarez, Milan ended the 1996/1997 Serie A season in 11th position. In the 1997/1998 season, Sacchi was replaced by Fabio Capello. The second period of coaching Fabio Capello, Milan recruited players who have potential value at that time, such as Leonardo, Christian Ziege, and Patrick Kluivert. However, efforts to bring in star players by AC Milan did not end sweetly.
In the 1997/1998 Serie A season, AC Milan only finished 10th. The results achieved by AC Milan made Fabio Capello's position fired the same as the fate of Arrigo Sacchi. After Fabio Capello was fired, AC Milan looked for a new coach. Finally, the search for training ended with the recruitment of a new coach, Alberto Zaccheroni from Udinese. The entry of Zaccheroni, followed by the inclusion of Oliver Bierhoff and Thomas Helveg, who were Udinese players when trained Zaccheroni.
In addition, AC Milan also brought Roberto Ayala, Luigi Sala, and Andres Giuly. In the era of coaching Alberto Zaccheroni, AC Milan won the 16th Scudetto title in the 1999/2000 Serie A season. However, the following season, Alberto Zaccheroni did not win the title. Finally, the successful coach with Udinese was fired.
After Zaccherono was fired. AC Milan's coach position is occupied by Cesare Maldini who is none other than the father of the AC Milan captain, Paolo Maldini. Cesare Maldini's position was not safe and eventually Cesare Maldini was fired. Furthermore, the position of Cesare Maldini was replaced by Fatih Terim. However, in coaching Fatih Terim, AC Milan could not achieve success.
The position of Fatih Terim was then replaced by Carlo Ancelotti. The era of Carlo Ancelotti's coaching succeeded in getting Milan to win the Champions Cup in the 2002/2003 season and in the 2003/2004 Serie A season, Carlo Ancelotti succeeded in getting AC Milan to win the Serie A competition while positioning striker Andriy Shevchenko as the top scorer in the Serie A competition .
After Carlo Ancelotti did not train AC Milan because of a move to Chelsea, the position of AC Milan coach in the 2008/2009 season was handled by former Milan player, Leonardo. During Leonardo's coaching, AC Milan lost several players, including Kaka who moved to Real Madrid, Paolo Maldini who decided to retire, and Yoann Gourcuff who decided to stay at Bordeaux.
While training AC Milan, Leonardo failed to offer the title to the club he coached. After Leonardo decided to resign, AC Milan's training stick moved into the hands of Massimiliano Allegri.
The 2010/2011 Serie A season, Massimiliano Allegri debuted as Milan coach. During Allegri's coaching, Milan recruited Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Barcelona and Robinho from Manchester City.
Coach Massimiliano Allegri finally succeeded in bringing AC Milan into the scudetto of the 2010/2011 Serie A season. The Scudetto won by AC Milan during the Massimiliano Allegri is the 18th AC Milan Scudetto title.
That's the AC Milan coach from time to time. There are trainers who have succeeded, there are also those who lack achievement. However, despite all this, many historical records are carved by these coaches to coach AC Milan.
