Reported by Tribal Football, Tuesday, March 24, 2015, UEFA Secretary General Gianni Infantino said, would continue to fight for additional slots at the upcoming 2018 World Cup.

UEFA's request was considered a natural thing by FIFA President Sepp Blatter. Because, in the last three editions of the World Cup, won by representatives of Europe (Germany, Spain and Italy).

"If you look at the facts, the winners of the last three World Cup editions are from Europe. In addition, of the 32 highest ranking FIFA, 19 of which are filled by European teams," Blatter said.

"So I think that's a really objective and just demand, they are asking for more space," he added.

At present, out of the 32 teams that competed in the World Cup finals, Europe is still dominated by sending 13 representatives. While the rest are filled by six South American teams, four Central American teams, five African teams and four Asian teams.

In 2013, FIFA had a chance to increase the number of World Cup participants to 40 teams. In order to accommodate the representatives of the Asian and African continents who received the fewest quota in this event.
