Biography of Michael Ballack
Michael Ballack began his club career at Chemnitzer FC. He then moved to Kaiserlsautern before joining Bayer Leverkusen since 1999. Together with Leverkusen, Ballack was a finalist in the 2002 Champions League before losing to Real Madrid. He was later bought by Bayern Munich and won several Bundesliga titles.

Ballack had a chance to try out the English League competition when joining Chelsea. He ended his football career at the Leverkusen club before retiring in 2012. Together with the German national team, Ballack collected 98 caps and scored 42 goals. He became the mainstay of Germany in the 2002 World Cup when Germany ran as runner up before being defeated by the Brazilian national team.
